Smathers Beach Bathroom Replacement

Barracuda Builders completed the Smathers Beach Restroom Rebuild located at 1910 South Roosevelt Blvd. This iconic restroom, on one of Key West’s most popular beaches, was in dire need of replacement. This project included a full demolition of the existing coral structure, solid poured concrete walls and roof structure using corrosion resistant rebar, concrete block work, and full installation of stainless steel bathroom fixtures and flood vents for optimum durability on the beach.

The restrooms at Smathers Beach are now ADA compliant, family friendly, and an overall more pleasant place for all beachgoers who need “to go”. Be sure to check out the super sleek outdoor showers on the ocean side of the building.

Stair Replacement

We finished a simple stair replacement that made all the difference at this Key West home. This wood-framed, stilt house was constructed in the late 70s. Proper attention and materials were given to the main structure, however, the stairs were severely lacking in all regards. Built using the bare minimum, the original stairs were non-compliant, unsafe, not structurally sound, nor aesthetically pleasing.

Our Barracuda crew demolished and disposed of the old stairs in its entirety—rails, posts, treads, landings, framing, stringers, and all. We then started to construct new stairs from the ground up.

Tucker’s Provisions Commercial Renovation

From an old pizzeria to a brand new retail store, Barracuda Builders had the pleasure of doing a complete, commercial renovation. This beautiful store is now known as Tucker’s Provisions located at 611 Duval Street, Key West.

This was a complete overhaul! Our scope of work included projects such as a first and second floor demo, an interior build out, roof and siding repair, installing new doors and windows, infilling the old grease trap, and rebuilding the front façade.
